If you are like most dog owners, your dog is part of your family. That is why it is so important to take the health of your dog very seriously. Like humans, pets need regular check-ups with your family veterinarian to make sure they are healthy. And just as with humans, sometimes your dog needs extra special care. This article can help you with some tips and tricks to keep your pet’s health in tip top shape. Brush Your Dog Daily Brushing your dog is one of the most important things you can do for your pet. Most people think that only people with lots of hair are able to have healthy hair, but that is not true. Good brushing involves brushing the hair coat on a regular basis, and will also make your dog look cleaner and healthier. A daily brushing session is a good time ALL Dogs  to bond with your dog and can reduce a lot of behavior problems that can result from a lack of proper grooming. Give Your Dog Treats Just as with people, dogs love to be pampered with treats. Give your dog a treat every once in a while, and they will be happy to see you and behave better for you. No one wants a dog that is out to look for a treat every time they meet someone or pass a stranger. By losing the treat, you are teaching the dog that a treat cannot always be given just because  ALL Dogs they are cute or friendly. Plus, a dog that is licking their fingers or chewing a bone can be considered very unhealthy. Provide Your Dog With Entertainment Sometimes going to the store or pet store is not such a good idea. Toys can easily be lost in a long pile of merchandise purchased at one time. Choose several different toys or dog beds that they can enjoy, and transfer these toys to their proper spot after playtime is over. This will help to keep the dog entertained when you are away. The following are some basic tips and steps to keeping your dog healthy and happy: o brushing your dog regularly helps keep the fur from shedding and helps your dog stay cooler. It is a good idea to brush your dog daily, and even more if they are shedding. o positive reinforcement is a great way to train your dog to behave in a way that you want and keeps them from chewing up on household items or furniture. Rewards like a rub on the nose or a doggie treat can be your best way to entice them to behave your way. o chop up any sharp or jagged pieces of clothing or small objects and don’t let your dog have access to them. o wash your dog, or if you have visitors, bring the dog into the house immediately after a bath to reduce the chance of the dog having fleas or other skin problems. o fix any holes in the fencing around your yard, and remove any animal feces in the yard. o fill water bowls to make sure they stay full and clean and refill them as needed so your dog can continue drinking. o Provide plenty of toys for entertainment purposes, (and maybe he’ll leave them somewhere you can find them!) o book, paper or magazine in the house so they can read or sleep. o Have a separate bed for your dog, (and if he’s a chewer get one that cannot be destroyed!) o Be sure they have been fed and watered. You will want to make sure they have enough food to keep them well fed and well hydrated if you are going to be gone for a while. o Bring pets outside for exercise regularly (be sure to check the weather for your area).
